Inno-thon and App-a-thon 2016
Tata Power - DDL has always believed in finding solutions for issues plaguing the power sector and society as a whole, through the use of technology. We also believe that the bright young minds of today would play a pivotal role in leading the nation forward. In a bid to streamline both the objectives, Tata Power – DDL has organized "Innothon" and "Appathon" in order to provide a platform for the students and professionals alike in which they could develop and present their ideas to solve the problems faced by the power sector as a whole.
Tata Power – DDL had in collaboration with Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology (NSIT) organized the 48 hours Innothon and Appathon as a part of the India Smart Grid Week from the 11th -13th of March 2016 at NSIT
The event saw a participation of over 50 teams and 150 students and professionals from reputed colleges like Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, PEC University of Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of technology, Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, Jamia Hamdard etc. and also from prestigious companies like CESC, ABB, Tata Power and Tata Consultancy Services etc.
The event began on the evening of 11th March 2016. Motivational speeches by Prof. J. K. Mitra and Mr. Dhananjay Gadre initiated the Event and encouraged the participants to be as innovative as possible. During the 48 hours, the participants experienced a wide range of emotions and mental stress. As they worked arduously on their projects. However, in the end, the feeling of creating something special which would resolve the issues faced by the power sector and the society made that journey well worth it.
The participants underwent a nerve racking experience as their projects were scrutinized by the distinguished members of the jury comprising of experts from of the power sector, academia and angel investors. The judges gave valuable suggestions and tips to improve the projects developed to make it economically feasible as well as viable in the market.
The closing ceremony was an eventful affair with Prof. Ramesh Gaonkar lauding the participants for their vision and hard work and urged them to keep moving along the same line to transform India into a super power.
The winning project for "Innothon" which was based on cyber security of the power grid was developed single handedly by Kumar Shubham of Cyborg Cyber Forensics and Information Security Pvt. Ltd. On the other hand, the winning project for "Appathon" was created by Mrityunjai Kumar from NSIT, Aman Kumar, Aakash Khatter and Joydeep Saha from MSIT which was based on the concept of home grid. Both the winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/- each.
